麻生环（铃木保奈美 饰）是一位出色的新闻报导员。经过多年的努力终于如愿以偿接替前辈，成为第二电视台皇牌节目“晚间新闻”的主播，并于同日，和情人工藤共谐连理，人生充满幸福和希望。可惜好景不常，工藤和前妻车祸身亡，留下儿子北原龙（泷泽秀明 饰）。
工藤的律师兼好友久保田六郎（长冢京三 饰）要求环在联络上龙的阿姨之前，暂时照顾龙。环与龙的性格极相似，我行我素、固执、有原则。两人同住在一屋檐下，时常发生摩擦，幸亏久保田从中调停。这对名义上的母子是否能真正和平相处呢？。
