在某修车行工作的西泽尚志看起来像个寡然无味的年轻人，他和其他男生参加了一次联谊，阴差阳错和联谊会上的女孩中原麻衣熟稔。麻衣快人快语，开朗阳光，和尚志形成了完美的互补。在接下来的一段时间，两人越走越近，尚志终于鼓起勇气向麻衣求婚，一切看似美好。可是毫无征兆，麻衣身上出现了各种奇怪的症状。经诊断发现，她罹患了十分棘手的疑难杂症——抗NMDA受体脑炎。最终，麻衣陷入长久的昏迷，饱受折磨。女孩的遭遇令她的父母伤痛欲绝，而尚志则不离不弃，始终坚守在女友身边，等待他醒来那一天。终于，麻衣张开了紧闭多年的双眼，可是更多的考验还等在前面……
