影片透过12岁女战士李童的视角，塑造了耿团长、裴大姐、白连长、金玉希、李亦奇等一批普通抗联男女战士在突围中拼死互相保护，牺牲、被俘、最终生还的残酷历程。
本片改编自最后一个离世的抗联女战士李敏撰写的回忆录。
这是第一次用电影方式讲述了抗联后期从突围到整编为教导旅再到打回东北的全过程。。
