裘西的职业是一名编辑，可是她最想做的是记者。相貌平平的她从未与别人亲吻过，因此她也期盼着属于自己的真爱出现。
报社为了增加销量，决定让裘西假扮高中生到校园调查，做一个年轻人言行的报导。这次机会成就了裘西的梦。但进入校园后她受到了同学们的嘲弄，取笑她是丑小鸭。既然当上记者了，裘西就力求把任务做到最好，于是她一改平日的风格，通过打扮要与高中生们拉近距离。可是事情并没有顺利发展，也因为遭到排挤，让她做出来的报道也未能满足老板的要求。
