As the women cook the traditional Axone ...。千惠子（岩下志麻饰）和早苗（岩下志麻饰）是一对孪生姐妹，出生后的姐姐千惠子，由于家境贫寒无力抚养，即遭遗弃，幸而为京都一家绸缎批发商所收养，作为倍受宠爱的独生女抚养，成为有地位的小姐。而妹妹早苗，虽没有被父母抛弃，却成为孤儿，长大后自食其力，到山里种植北山杉，生活艰苦。一次偶然，千惠子巧遇跟自己长得几乎一模一样的少女早苗，姐妹俩的身世真相大白。千惠子的内心因此起了微妙变化，姐妹俩久别重逢，但因彼此生活方式不同，终于不得团圆，为了不影响姐姐的幸福，早苗回到了原来的地方。。影片根据虹影同名长篇小说改编，以重庆“山城”为地理背景，讲述了在1976年，12岁少年窦小明因受伤进了医院，认识了对他照顾和关爱有加的护士佳惠。佳惠生得美貌，却嫁给当地混社会的青年钢哥，常常遭受家暴。窦小明得知此事后站出来打抱不平，从此改变了他们三人的命运。。
