一个非法生化公司在太平洋火山小岛上肆意倾倒放射性废物而至使此地生态出现异变，两位绿色组织的成员潜入小岛准备揭发他们的阴谋。然而火山喷发，辐射所带来的毁灭性灾难瞬间倾泻而下……。指挥家宋羽（周润发 饰）与设计师悦香（林青霞 饰）相识于香港的某个兵马俑展览，二人回家后，便开始常常梦到对方。在梦中，二人不再是以现实中的身份出现，而是幻化成了两千年前的生死相随的恋人……
