1935年5月遵义会议后，在毛泽东的指挥下，中央红军四渡赤水、两占遵义、佯攻贵阳、进逼昆明，甩开了川滇黔湘桂的国民党30万大军的围追堵截。红军北渡金沙江后，进入彝族聚居区。国民党部队想要把红军歼灭在大渡河以南的安顺场。然而，在凉山州冕宁县北部的彝海边，中央红军先遣部队司令员刘伯承与彝人果基支系首领小叶丹结为兄弟，小叶丹带领当地彝族群众沿途护送红军顺利通过彝区，为抢渡大渡河战役的胜利赢得了先机。。It's supposed to be a fresh start: One year after the loss of her husband, Nicole settles with her young adult children Justine and Jason in Purity Falls.
