明朝嘉靖年间，倭寇年年侵犯我国东南沿海边境，烧杀抢掠，无恶不作。兵部二品侍郎朱纨奉旨前往浙江平倭，并委派内务府总管太监王顺随行监督。不想在朱纨赴任途中却遭倭人埋伏，幸得周将军率兵相救才得以平安上任。时过不久，周将军在护送畲寨土司进贡的千年灵芝时，再遭倭人伏击，恰遇盐贩曹顶出手相救，才得以逃过一劫。朱纨得知后便决意将曹顶收入军中，联合抗倭。曹顶在为将之后与倭寇厮杀时，结识了女扮男装的畲寨郡主阿珠。原来土司伤重不治，临终前吩咐阿珠助曹顶共同抗倭。于是众人共同施计，欲擒倭首博多津，而只有王公公另有盘算，迟疑不决。曹顶、阿珠、周将军依计而行，通过数场与敌死战，终于诱出了匪首，原来在博多津的幕后还隐藏着另一个博多津操纵着全局……。A COUNTRY CALLED HOME is a compelling coming of age story with universal appeal because it deals with trials and trepidations that most people experience in one way or another, no matter who they are or where they are from.
